The control panel gives acces to the administrative functions of each module. Each module can implement an admin form wich is accesible through the control panel. The actual content of the control panel varies with installed modules and also with the rights of the user.
Speaking of user rights: this is how they are assigned. Each user or user group is assigned access classes which determine access to sections of the modules. On top of that, individual documents can have a document class. Access to the document classes is also administered through the user manager. This is particularly useful in an Intranet environment where multiple persons get sub-admin rights to maintain departmental webpages, news etc.
This is how new news articles are submitted. By default only logged in users can do this. Each article has 2 images available, one for the news list and one for the article full text. For more complex layouts you'll need to create a webpage where the number of images/multimedia files is unlimited.
This is the result of a site search. Each module can implement a search method. This search method is used by the site search facility. This helps to create appropriate searches with links specific to the module in which the link was found, while maintaining user document access rights.
